About Luc Verschuuren

Luc Verschuuren grew up in rural North Brabant, close to the strip country of Belgium, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in the 1970s. There he also came into contact with the French comics magazines Pilote and Metal Hurlant, and especially with the work of artists who represented the so-called “Nouvelle Ligne Claire” (Chaland, Floc'h, Clerc). Under the influence of those illustrators, Verschuuren decided in 1978 to establish himself as an independent artist.

In the first half of that year alone, he managed to realize a turnover of some 300 "gulden"! This success inspires him to continue on the same path and subsequently develop into the artist he is today.

His bright and tasteful paintings, and his entertaining and often funny comics have now found their way to both companies and private individuals in not only the Netherlands and Belgium, but also France and the United States. Verschuuren currently lives and works in the picturesque Moergestel, near the fashionable Tilburg, where he is regularly seen on a terrace for inspiration.
